So last Friday, my second eldest female cousin on my Mum's side tied the knot. I mean, it was a pretty big deal. Considering she's the first of my generation on Mum's side to settle down. Which pretty much means there's four girls and seven guys left. To get married that is.
To say that I've an opinion about the groom. . . Well, prior to the wedding, I'm pretty sure I met him a total of twice? Even then, I never actually was properly introduced to him? But hey, he must be a great guy if the wedding went off without a hitch.
Does this make me sound pretentious?
Meh.
So the ceremony on Friday happened after Maghrib, then went on all the way past midnight. At that point, Me, Baby Brother, & a couple of my cousins were already close to dozing off in the middle of the main room, which was pretty pathetic.
**i'm currently listening to music on YouTube & the ads are so damn weird**
Then fast forward to last Sunday when the bersanding ceremony. I was given the honour of being the bridesmaid *God knows why* & for my first time holding that gig, I think things went pretty okay??? If you don't count the fact that once I got on the dais, I had no clue what the other proper procedure were meant to be done.
**Tip : before the start of a major event, be it personal or otherwise, always make the time to do rehearsals! Be it the day before or a few hours prior!
Ugh! Honestly.
But it was still pretty nice, I mean, my cousin got married! And I got to spend most of the day with the rest of my cousins whom I haven't seen in so long! And gosh, my Mother has a huge family. I've never realised it until that day. Then, my Nanny told me;
Nanny : You know, Ima. When you get married in the future, you'll have so many guests in attendance, majority of them from your Mother's side.
Me : Apparently I have relatives from Penang. I never knew that. Did you know that? I didn't.
Nanny : Be honest, aside from the relatives you usually see from your kampung, do you recognise anyone else here?
Me : Not a ding-dang clue.
Nanny : Thank goodness your Father's side of the family isn't this big.
Me : Makes no difference. I hardly know most of them anyways.
Nanny : As opposed to everyone in your Mum's family?
Me : Touche.
And that's pretty much all I can say. But the wedding really isn't the highlight of the day. Though I feel kinda bad that another event sort of overshadowed the wedding, I can't help it that it's a whole lot more exciting.
But that would be in the next post! I still feel giddy just thinking about it!
