It is a Friday. Which means I have no classes on. Yet, I woke up at seven-thirty in the morning. Why? Because I had the initiative to clean my mother-trucking room!
Mood : Freakin' accomplished.
For real though, spent three whole hours vacuuming, wiping, dusting every available surface in the room. Then promptly fell asleep four hours later. So. . . That is how I spent my Friday morning! Woo!
*waits for moment when all my hard work goes downhill & everything is strewn everywhere again*
*typical me*
Ooh, but wait! I actually have something to talk about regarding the beginning of the week. Because, honest to gosh, I still can't get over the sheer magnificence of the day. Okay, so last Sunday, at precisely three-thirty in the afternoon, I was fortunate enough to go & watch :
*squee*
Oh my goodness, I cannot even begin to tell you how absolutely phenomenal the show was! And that's saying something considering this is the second time I've watched this stage production. The first time being in late 2006 if I'm not mistaken, & I love it now as much as I did then!
*deep breaths*
*calms down*
Okay, so a little info, P Ramlee is an idol of mine. I've loved him since I was probably around eight years old? I love his movies & music & the fact that he always manages to incorporate some sort of Malay essence in every one of his works. Even during primary & secondary school I did a couple of presentations centered around him. I was that obsessed.
This amazing stage production revolves around the life, trials & tribulations, & success of one of Malaysia's most celebrated performers. Like, I cannot even, okay?! Anytime anyone mentions P Ramlee, it's like, "Hold your horses, let me tell you about how awesome P Ramlee is. You may want to sit down, this might take awhile."
The cast in this show was amazing as well. In my honest opinion, I believe Tony Eusoff played a flawless P Ramlee. He brought the man's essence, style & charisma on stage. And Lisa Surihani was such an adorable Junaidah. And let's not even mention how fabulous the ever great Tiara Jacquelina was as the absolute diva, Norizan. Nadia Aqilah was an okay Saloma *whom I also absolutely adore, by the way* I mean, she was pretty good in terms of singing & acting & such, but I just didn't see as, "Oh my gosh! She is totally Saloma!" That title I believe belongs to Nabila Huda, who played her in the movie adaptation.
I could go on & on about all the scenes that stole my heart. But really, I don't have the capacity to write that long, & I'm pretty sure it would just end up being whole paragraphs of "Oh my goodness! It was amazing! I loved it when this & that! And they did it so well! And then this part was the best! GAHHH!!!"
But if I had to pick my absolute favourite moment, it would have to be any scene involving P Ramlee & Saloma interacting with one another. It has been my favourite back in 2006 & still stays my favourite now. Can I honestly say, that if what was acted out on stage was exactly or as close as how they courted each other & ultimately spent their life together in real life, then can I please, please, please, have a relationship that is exactly like theirs?!
We have P Ramlee, who was just recently divorced *poor thing* who is all heartbroken & writing songs about heartbreak & such. Then, we have Saloma, who has basically been head over heels in love with P Ramlee since who knows when. Then, she's invited to sing as his female lead & well, hello there. Seductress mode: On. It pays to know that Saloma has always been a very sexy, gorgeous, sophisticated, & soft-hearted lady, but hey, she's been in love with the man for years, he's single, let's amp these moves up, gurrrl~ So then we have P Ramlee acting all shy & dorky & just a general spazz around this flawless female being & then they sang & flirted the heck with each other & OHMYGOSHIJUSTLOVETHEMSOFREAKINGMUCH!!!!!!!
*clears throat*
Needless to say, by the end of the show, I laughed, cooed, & cried over *they showed a freakin' montage of P Ramlee & his movies from the first to the last ones at the end of the show, of course I freakin' cried* the wonderfulness of the evening. Oh my gosh, I'd love nothing more than to see it again! Thankfully, Daddy is going to buy the Saloma movies on Astro so I can watch it to my heart's content. Since it's a Saloma movie, obviously it's going to be from her point of view. And as far as I've heard, it's going to encompass her entire life's story. Which means double the tears! Can't wait! Maybe once I'm done watching it, I'll blog about how much I love her next. But not now, because I don't want to make this too darn long.
Whew! That was fun. And all this after my re-sit exams. Bwahahah! Now my expectations for life & love are now probably way too high. Who needs all these Western examples for relationship bliss when I've got local *although already long gone* examples.Okay, okay, I'll stop. Done. End of post.
But next month they'll be playing Puteri Gunung Ledang : The Musical, so that's on thing to look forward to.
xoxo
